Tawaki on Netflix

Tawaki on Netflix

A year and a half after we helped a crew from Silverback Films to get amazing footage of tawaki in Patea/Doubtful Sound, it will be visible in its full glory on Netflix.

After three years of production, Netflix has just announced the release date for the second season of its acclaimed “Our Planet” series. Our Planet II will tell stories about animal migrations. And tawaki caught the writers’ attention thanks to the penguins’ marathon antics after finishing the breeding season. Obviously, it’s nigh on impossible to follow and film the penguins on their 7,000 km journeys. So instead, the filming focused on the female’s relentless back-and-forth between nest and ocean during the chick rearing period.

Tawaki will be one of many species that are featured on this four-episode season. Out Planet II will launch exclusively on Netflix, June 14!
